Pacman problem

Hello to all,

I am new to Arch and pacman. I just installed Arch Linux and I have a little problem.

When I try to sync pacman I get this errors:

error: failed to update core (no servers configured for repositories)
error: failed to update extra (no servers configured for repositories)
error: failed to update community (no servers configured for repositories)
error: failed to synchronize any databases

I know that I have to edit the pacman.conf file but what should I put there?
Can someone post a sample pacman.conf file with Servers for core, extra, community and so on.

Re: Pacman problem

I found the error.

My mirrors were not enabled.

Re: Pacman problem

the stock pacman.conf should just use /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.  but the stock mirrorlist file comes all commented by default

find your country, uncomment some mirrors, then -Syyu

//edit: too slow.  glad you're all set.

Re: Pacman problem

Also check out the pacman section in the Beginners' Guide.  It has more information on how everything works, as well as instructions for using the rankmirrors script to choose the best mirrors for you.

Welcome to Arch, by the way! big_smile
