I started compiz using fusion-icon but window decorators don't start with it. When I try to change them to either kde4-compiz-decorator or emerald from the fusion-icon menu, nothing happens. When I try to type 'emerald --replace' or 'kde4-compiz-decorator --replace' from the terminal, KDE crashes back onto the login screen.
I'm using radeonhd drivers but the problem is also present with regular xf86-video-ati drivers. The GPU is ATi X1650.
One more thing, when I try enabling the built-in KDE4 composite effects, they work but KDE also crashes when I try to launch some programs such as Firefox or the KDE control panel.
