Snowman repo [CLOSED]

I have done major improvements to my repo, including:
-a snowman.db.tar.gz file
-newer versions of packages
-new packages
-less messy PKGBUILD

EDIT: New location

To use them with pacman, put:

[snowman]
Server=http://snowman123.freefronthost.com/

in your pacman.conf file.

To browse them:
http://snowman123.freefronthost.com/

The PKGBUILD:
http://snowman123.freefronthost.com/PKGBUILDs/

Any comments would be welcomed. big_smile

Re: Snowman repo [CLOSED]

I tried scilab, but it didn't work. I got the following errors:

/usr/bin/scilab: line 32: /home/eric/Packages/scilab/pkg/usr/lib/scilab-3.0/pvm3/lib/pvmgetarch: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/scilab: line 47: /home/eric/Packages/scilab/pkg/usr/lib/scilab-3.0/bin/scilex: No such file or directory

So I think the actual error is in line 16 of the script (I changed the variable SCI to /usr/lib/scilab-3.0).

The help browser (dialog 'help'->'help browser') doesn't work either: The 'scilab progression bar' window stops while 'parsing help files' and in the 'scilex' window there's the error 241 and the file 'whatis.htm' not found/access denied '[...]at line 12 of function rescan_helps called by:[...]'  (and some more output).

Ooops!

Yes. It's probably the best (easiest) way to correct that error.

I think I forgot to make the help files.  It needs more work and testing.   I will probably need a few days to fix that.

I have uploaded a new package for scigraphica. I installed it from my repo and it works on my system. Try it and tell me if it works.

Is it working now? Have you retried to dowload the package?  It might be temporary. It's a new web host so I don't know much how reliable it is.

I  just dowloaded the onefinger-core package without any problems.
BTW, I use wget to download the packages instead of pacman's internal dowloader.  To do so, in your pacman.conf, put:

XferCommand = /usr/bin/wget --passive-ftp -c -t0 -T10 -O %o %u

Re: Snowman repo [CLOSED]

Another user had this problem. Strange...

BTW, you can also download the packages from http://snowman123.freefronthost.com/ and install it with

pacman -A

or

pacman -U

I found out the problem.  Most of my packages got corrupted when I changed host.  sad  I will need to re-upload them.

Re: Snowman repo [CLOSED]

That would be nice indeed ^^
Thanks to your packages, I had the most simple scilab installation ever !
(nothing to compare with the home compilation and the strange dependencies problems I had with my MEPIS *chills*)

Re: Snowman repo [CLOSED]

Unfortunately, my free web host don't allow file size bigger than 500 kB.  I'll need to change host.  roll  I found a few free hosts without file size limit but it could take some time before everything is set up.  Meanwhile, the packages can be built from the PKGBUILD.

There is gxmame  in staging.

Put

[staging]
Server = [url]ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/tur/staging[/url]

in /etc/pacman.conf
then

pacman -Sy gxmame

[/code]

Re: Snowman repo [CLOSED]

Due to:
a) my server problem
b) the new AUR system
I will stop maintaining (and eventually remove) my repo.  However, I will transfer the PKGBUILDs to the AUR and continue maintaining them there.  I will also use that opportunity to cleanup my repo.

Currently, I have submitted to the AUR:

bobobot
endeavour
kdiff3
sablotron
scilab
smclone-music [new - music for smclone]
sonic-rainbow
xanim
xmille
xmms-volnorm

The following packages will be submitted (unless someone else does it first wink ) once I update/debug them:

anacron
pysol and depends
koctave3
kpacman
gdl and depends [new - A free IDL (Interactive Data Language) compatible incremental compiler (ie. runs IDL programs)]
moreamp [new - A media player]

The other packages will be removed.

If you would like me to continue maintaining one of these left-out packages, let me know in this thread or pm me.  I'll see what I can do.

If you are interested to take over the maintenance of one or more of these left-out packages, feel free to do so.  You can use my PKGBUILD as a starting guide.  Just post a note to let me know. big_smile
