Ati Mobility x300 direct rendering

Hi, I have an ati mobility x300 in my laptop. I am trying to get to work neverball. I don't use 3D acceleration at all, but this is a game I am really interested in. I am using the opensource radeon driver. I think I have done everything. It doesn't work though. The card should be powerful enough to run this game. I used to have Compiz fusion on this machine some time ago and it worked really good.
