Archlinux install on fitpc2 problems

Hi,
This is a really annoying problem. I'm installing Archlinux on a Fitpc2. The initial install goes all fine, till i remove the usb after base install and start the system.
whenever i start using pacman, or download any package, the system tends to hang. The cursor keeps blinking, otherwise there's no activity. I can't quit or do anything.
This is the fifth time i'm trying the install. I've downloaded the install img file twice and used it with the same result. No idea whats wrong with the system. Could anyone please help me out?

Hi,
just now i tried using the 2009.02 version, and it seemed to work fine...does that mean that the latest image has problems with usb installs??
