consolekit, hangups and terminals opening twice

After upgrading consolekit package I always run:

chmod -x /usr/sbin/console-kit-daemon

because I don't want 20+ console-kit-daemon instances running and hanging up my system.

But, this has a side effect (I would be surprised of the opposite!): terminals tend to open twice, e.g. if you launch 'Terminal' (I use XFCE4) you get two terminal windows.

Does anybody know how to contain this problem?
