'#setxkbmap' doesnt work - Tested X, with poor results.

`#setxkbmap no
Cannot open display "default display"

Need to run setxkbmap becaus I didnt manage to configure my HAL (i think...), therefor I have disabled it.

I also checked if X works. A terminal, white with black text, appeared in the top right corner, but I wasnt able to type in any text, nor move my mouse. Whats wrong?

why are you doing that as root ??

just do

setxkbmap <code>

the code is your country code ("fr/pt/us" etc..)

setxkbmap needs to be run from within an X session of some kind, which I'm guessing you're running it from a VT if you can't get your keyboard to work in X. Your mouse/keyboard probably don't work because you don't have HAL running, you should post information on what went wrong with configuring it so that we can help you get that running.
