Hello.
I installed Arch (in virtualbox) today, all went well and i could setup Xorg, test it using a xterm and try out slim. This worked fine.
I set up my .xinitrc file to use openbox and everything seems to work great.
Then i rebooted, and i couldn't seem to login. It's not a keyboard problem, as i can type during the boot . but when SLIM starts i can't type anything or go back to the console login. It seems like it just stalls.
Some guy on IRC recommended to start in single-mode. buti can't do this as i immediatly boot into SLIM
What do you guys recommend?

USB keybaord? Do you have hal running before your slim entry in your daemons array? Did you install the xf86-input-evdev package?

i dont know what virtualbox uses.
i dont know if i put that into my daemons array, but if it was included in the guide on the wiki, i probably did.
i dont know about that last package.
All i remember is that when i tried testing SLIM i could input exit into the login box without any problems.
I guess it has something to do with daemons then
EDIT: I forgot to add HAL to my daemons. i just started using runlevel3 by adding a "3" after the kernel sentence in grub and fixed it. thank you graysky

You shouldn't need to modify your kernel line at all... hal just needed to be running before slim.

I'm assuming he had to edit the kernel line to prevent booting directly to SLiM, where he could not type.
