I got an Acer Aspire 5102WLMi.
I hope someone can help me. I like the game. ^^

unfortunately cave story received an extremely poor linux port, at least in terms of performance. the game has nearly 100% cpu usage on my athlon 64 x2. though i'm underclocking it to 1ghz using the powersave cpufreq module, it still shouldn't require even close to what it's using. try playing the windows version through wine, i just tried it and it seemed to run flawlessly. i had played through the game years ago in wine and it had a lot of problems back then, primarily the sound, but it looks like those issues have since been resolved.
hope you get it working, it's really a fantastic game

I tried in Wine, but after playing for some minutes it slows down. T_T
Wine outputs this:
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x32f5dc,0x00000000), stub!
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_Release (0x17efa0) Device released with resources still bound, acceptable but unexpected
fixme:d3d:dumpResources Leftover resource 0x17b0c0 with type 1,WINED3DRTYPE_SURFACE

That's strange. I don't have Pulse Audio. I'm using OSS.

... do you have an ATI card? I think it has something to do with the new opensource drivers... I don't fully understand this, but if you enable compositing on the desktop, then it should run beautifully.
