Hello everyone and thank you for listening.
I have problems with my X-Fi Platinum running with the newly added ctxfi driver from the 2.6.31 kernel.
I cannot seem to find out why I don't have surround when I use the setting "6 ch Direct" on my Z-5500 surround speaker soundsystem. Luckily it has Dolby Music and Movie setting that just duplicates audio signals to the other speakers, so it haven't bothered me so far ..
I long awaited the driver addition to the ALSA kerneltree, I am sure I read somewhere it could do mic and 5.1 but I've not found out yet how.
My speakers are connected like they should, Red(Center), Black(Rear), Green(Front), Mic.
If you need anymore information just tell me and I will bring it shortly.

Incredible.
I have not found anyone yet concerned about this X-Fi driver, I was told the new one was going to include 5.1 and Mic support, but I can't get the mic to work like it used to on my Live! Value emu10k1.

"The new one"? Talking about the kernel, or alsa-driver? You should be trying the latest ALSA, which is at the ALSA homepage.

kernel, included.
I solved the problem partly.
I got surround to work now - It was simply because my 5.1 surround had to be put on 6ch Direct and unmuted Surround lever which I thought was already unmuted, turned out it wasn't.
Mic is the only problem. I tried out all channels in different combination in Skype. I cannot hear anything, I've tried recording in Audacity with mic and switching back and forth on inputs/outputs, still nothing.

I forget what version of the kernel I am using (I don't update that often) but it is one of the ones with the built in driver. I did get the mic working after some tinkering with the settings. I will add a screenshot when I get home in like an hour.

Thanks I would love that ..

For some reason I needed the mic in the non recording tab at like 80-100% or else I can't be heard. The only undesirable thing (for me) about this setup is that whatever I say comes out my speakers, mind you its not very loud, but if I tap on my mic (or blow into it) I can hear it

Dethredic: Thanks for your reply. I tried to make my settings similar I still can't hear anything through my speakers though - when trying to make a noise through the mic.
The only difference I can see is the red capture markers at the bottom of the levers as you can see here other than that our levers are identical.
