Arduino, ttyUSB0 not reappearing after reset

Hi all, Hopefully this is the right forum (this is a hardware issue).

I'm using my arch box to develop for my arduino (an atmel atmega168 micro with an onboard usb->serial chip)

When I plug in my arduino for the first time, it appears as /dev/ttyUSB0, and works fine except for a stream of
usb over-current change messages related to DIFFERENT usb ports being posted (everything seems to be working though so these dont bother me so much)

However, if I unplug it, (the /dev/ttyUSB0 disapears properly) and then plug it back in the device never reappears

I've had the same problem on a different distro (gentoo), but in that case the issue was that every succesive replug would cause the number after the tty to increase (i,e. second time it would be ttyUSB1, third time ttyUSB2)
