Do kernel-headers need to match kernel version?

I've been sticking with kernel 2.6.30, because if issues I have with ath5k and my secondary hard drive waking all the time with 2.6.31. So I put kernel26 and kernel26-firmware in the Ignore Package line in pacman.conf. Now the new kernel-headers package just came along 2.6.31.4 and it seems if I don't upgrade it a bunch of other packages also won't upgrade (because of dependency issues): binutils  firefox  gcc  gcc-libs  glibc  xulrunner.

Does it matter if I like the kernel-headers upgrade to 2.6.31, even while keeping the kernel and kernel firmware at 2.6.30?

No.   A forum search will find several threads with the explanation.

Re: Do kernel-headers need to match kernel version?

Thanks. I did a forum search but only found threads like this one, http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=83439, that talk about the kernel header version lagging behind the kernel version. And then provide a furth explanation that's over my head (I'm not a programmer). So I wasn't sure it also applied to my situation where the kernel header version is ahead of the kernel version.
