Re: XFree86 ?

Personally, I would, right now, before you get all into it, uninstall xfree86 and install xorg. beyond that I am no help.

Re: XFree86 ?

the file should be /etc/X11/xorg.conf.  XFree86 is old, X.org is the new X server.
If you do not have a config file, your best bet is to run.... xorgcfg or xorgconfig (i think) and go through the configuration.  It will product a file in your home directory which you need to cop as /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

Most likely, you will have problems configuring this, so make sure to post any problems you have... and check the /var/log/ log files for X and look for (EE) which indicates errors and (WW) which indicates warnings.

Re: XFree86 ?

I think you could force the uninstall of xfree86 and install xorg
The broken dependencies are most likely going to be fixed by xorg

Re: XFree86 ?

this is an old problem from before the xorg era,

first uninstall xfree with ignoring deps option

# pacman -Rd xfree86

and then install xorg with

# pacman -S xorg

that should fix it

arch + gentoo + initng + python = enlisy

Re: XFree86 ?

change Driver to "kbd"

otherwise it's better to make a new xorg.conf with xorgconfig

arch + gentoo + initng + python = enlisy

Re: XFree86 ?

Plus uncomment these lines to have GLX / DRI:

# This loads the GLX module
#    Load       "glx"
# This loads the DRI module
#    Load       "dri"
