[Solved] Nexuiz stopped working after latest xorg and intel update

Its seems fine at the menu, but as soon as I start playing all of the textures start flickering and going invisible.

Everything was working great when I was playing yesterday before the update.

Re: [Solved] Nexuiz stopped working after latest xorg and intel update

Have you tried both nexuiz-sdl and nexuiz-glx? I've never noticed a difference but sometimes one runs better on a given system.

Post specific error messages if there are any. To save an in-game log, open the console (shift+esc, or "`") then enter "condump nexlog.txt" to dump the console output to ~/.nexuiz/data/nexlog.txt. You can also run the client from a terminal to get the output.

Other information which might be useful:
* What architecture are you on (i686 vs x86_64)?
* Does this affect all maps or just some?
* Have you tried removing all csprogs files from ~/.nexuiz/data/dlcache?
* Have you tried recompiling the client?

I'm on x86_64 with everything up-to-date and Nexuiz runs fine.

Re: [Solved] Nexuiz stopped working after latest xorg and intel update

Thanks for responding. Im using x86_64 with an Intel GM965. Both nexuiz-sdl and nexuiz-glx do the same thing. It does it on every map. Removing the files in ~/.nexuiz/data/dlcache/ does nothing.

I get this output when I run it from a terminal

I installed nexuiz from community so it was precompiled, but everything was working fine before the xorg update. I will try compiling from abs now and see if it makes a difference although I have doubts. I will post back with results when its done.

Also I should mention that this same update that broke nexuiz actually improved performance in glxgears and in games like openarena and padman. I can actually play openarena now with highest settings and shaders at full resolution.

Re: [Solved] Nexuiz stopped working after latest xorg and intel update

I have no idea what the problem is at this point. After comparing your output to mine I didn't notice any clear errors, but I don't have the same graphics card.

Once you download the source to recompile the client, try running both of the x86_64 pre-compiled clients available in the zip source to see if that makes any difference.

You can also post this issue on the Alientrap/Nexuiz forum and hope that someone there has an idea. Make sure that you describe the issue in as much detail as possible.

Re: [Solved] Nexuiz stopped working after latest xorg and intel update

Well I just figured it out.

I had to go into the video settings in nexuiz and change the VBO's settings

Use "vertices" instead of "vertices and some tris", which I was using before.

Overall performance has increased with this latest xorg update, I can now play smoothly with "medium" effects settings.

Re: [Solved] Nexuiz stopped working after latest xorg and intel update

Thanks for posting the solution. I'm glad that it wasn't package-related and that it was easily fixable.

Please edit your original post and mark the thread as [SOLVED].
