Gnome startup problem!

Hi there!
I just installed Gnome, but I have a mayor problem!

My .xinitrc is up to date, but when I type "startx" I only get to see the gnome splash-screen (like a pop-up or something) and after that nothing happens.

I don't know whats the problem, because there is no error after killing X.

Does anybody know anything about this? Would be nice.

/edit:

I installed it once again, and now I'm getting:

Gnome-Message: gnome_execute_async_with_env_fds: returning -1
Gnome-Message: gnome_execute_async_with_env_fds: returning -1
Gnome-Message: gnome_execute_async_with_env_fds: returning -1
Gnome-Message: gnome_execute_async_with_env_fds: returning -1

btw: the gnome-bugzilla doesn't help.

Re: Gnome startup problem!

Is it the gnome splashscreen you're seeing and then you can't click anything?

After my reinstall, I forgot to put up my lo device. Gnome-settings-daemon tries to open a connection to 127.0.0.1:111 (portmap daemon), but waits forever since 127.0.0.1 points to a blackhole when the "lo" device is not up.

Could you pls tell me what you're talking about?

And please, how to realize this?

Just want to get gnome running.
