Hi, I'd like to experiment with an older 2.6 kernel to check if my spectrum24 wifi card works. How do I go about downgrading packages with pacman?

The wiki is your friend: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Downgrade_packages

Not sure if there's other ways, but normally to downgrade a package it has to be in /var/cache/pacman/pkg (default dir), or use ARM (Arch Rollback Machine) servers, or yet seek other repos owned by users (at your own risk) that might have the pkg (and version) that you need.
Second, if it's 2.6.x you need, you should be able to compile it using pkgbuilds (if you also want arch's patches, you can use abs' pkgbuild to do it, just change the version to whatever you need).
Hope this helps. Also you could read the wiki on downgrading packages and abs/pkgbuilds.
cheers
