dumping 4gb to cdw

i would like to burn a 4gb directory and its sub-directories to a cd as-is using cdrecord, ie, with no compression or other tools. is there a way to do it in 1 bash line or a short script? the only way i could think is make a dummy 700mb file, mount it as a dir, move files into this virtual dir until its full, burn its contents, clear it, and move on to next segment of files... but maybe there is a better way?
tnx.

Re: dumping 4gb to cdw

the way I always saw it done was to use a shell script to generate a list of files in the sub directory...ensuring that the total size was under a certain threshold. Then saving off that file list.
you can pass a file list to mkisofs, and it will generate the cd for you..
man mkisofs for more info on that utility..

Offhand, I don't know what is in the magical shell script.  :?
