Gnome menu icons issue

I had had turned off icons in gnome menu, when I installed gnome 2.28.And,guess what,I got icons in menus, although box in appearance window is unchecked, same thing is in the gconf-editor.And now I can't  remove icons from menus, though it should be gnome 2.28 without icons in menus.Any help is appreciated.

Re: Gnome menu icons issue

Bump and subscribe. I have the same problem, on every fresh Linux distro. Ubuntu 9.10, F12, etc etc. Even if I don't have Gnome installed, the GTK icons wont disappear which is quite annoying. Tried to define it in .gtkrc , but no use. I guess its more of a GTK bug than a Gnome bug.
