PAN Newsreader Post-Upgrade Weirdness (v. 0.133)

Sorry if this is off-topic, but Pan has started acting odd, and I'm pretty sure the new version prop is the root cause.  Has anyone seen this behavior: all new incoming headers are automatically marked "as read."  I've scoured the menus, but I have no clue how to undo this config (if it *is* a config).  Reading news is alot easier when you can distiguish between read and unread articles. 
Any work-arounds?  I was contemplating a non-destructive re-install.  Which files should I save off first in order to keep my current articles / groups settings and database?
