I made fresh install, and now I see that new updated version of awesome window manager have grey screen, previous version had wallpaper where was written awesome. I was searching around web to find that wallpaper, but no luck. Is there some way to get that wallpaper?

It should be included with the package:
$ pacman -Qo /usr/share/awesome/themes/default/background.png
/usr/share/awesome/themes/default/background.png is owned by awesome 3.4-1

Thank you very much, you are right. It was confusing for me because previous install was automatically set wallpaper and stuff. Now there is other problem. I can't get themes to work. I've done this:
sudo cp /etc/xdg/awesome/rc.lua ~/.config/awesome/rc.lua
and this:
sudo cp /usr/share/awesome/themes/default ~/.awesome/themes/default
Than I write this in rc.lua, path to theme in my home directory:
beautiful.init("/home/myusername/.awesome/themes/default/theme.lua")
Nothing happened.

You don't need sudo to copy files into your home directory, and your second copy doesn't look it would copy anything. Did you mean:
(assuming .awesome/themes exists first)
cp -R /usr/share/awesome/themes/default ~/.awesome/themes/
Second, open up ~/.awesome/themes/default/theme.lua and make sure this line exists:
theme.wallpaper_cmd = { "awsetbg /usr/share/awesome/themes/default/background.png" }

I was doing this acording to Awesome3 ArchWiki, and I manually created ~/.awesome folder.
Yes, there is theme.wallpaper_cmd = { "awsetbg /usr/share/awesome/themes/default/background.png" } in rc.lua
Everything is set, but again I don't see wallpaper.

You seem to be quite mixed up.
Start here: http://awesome.naquadah.org/wiki/Beautiful
In your config file there should already be a line:
beautiful.init("@AWESOME_THEMES_PATH@/default/theme.lua")
If you want to use a custom theme, change that line to be the path to it. Then in that theme file do the wallpaper_cmd.
You are mixing config files, setting the background like that does not work in rc.lua.

I have a similar problem.
I've just installed awesome-3.4.3-2 and no background wallpapper is shown.
My rc.lua is located both in /etc/xdg/awesome/ and ~/.config/awesome/ (by default Mod4+w > awesome > edit config opens the latter) contains:
require("beautiful")
...
beautiful.init("/usr/share/awesome/themes/default/theme.lua")
and /usr/share/awesome/themes/default/theme.lua contains :
theme.wallpaper_cmd = { "awsetbg /usr/share/awesome/themes/default/background.png
where background.png is default wallpapper
But there is only gray background on my monitor.
I tried to change background path to not existing file and got error as expected ( awsetbg: /usr/share/awesome/themes/default/backgr.png isn't an existing wallpaper or a valid option.)
Also I tried to use another themes (sky and zenburn): panel colors changed properly but wallpapper area remained solid gray. Finally I tried to change wallpapper resolution to exactly match my monitor (1280x800) but it was as useless as previous manipulations.
I haven't found any bugs concerning wallpappers in awesome. What am I doing wrong?
[upd] After installing some unrelated programs (openoffice and dependencies) and after restarting the system wallpapper appeared. O_o

I had exactly the same problem. The openoffice method was no success for me. I installed xcompmgr and added an exec line in ~/.xinitrc and i got my wallpaper
sdk

Yeah, awesome by itself can't set a wallpaper, you need an external app to do that. Looks like you accidentally installed one of them.

If I remember correctly, installing feh made the wallpaper appear for me.

I had the same problem right now after uninstalling feh, then I just reinstalled it and things got back to normal... seems quite weird to me, can someone explain why that happens?

Because "awsetbg" is just a wrapper around some commonly used wallpaper-setting-tools. Try
man awsetbg

Yeah, you need one of these:
Esetroot habak wmsetbg feh hsetroot chbg display qiv xv xsri xli xsetbg xsetroot
I wonder why you haven't seen the dialog saying that you have to install an external program to set the wallpaper. Actually, there was a warning when I started awesome for the first time and I doubt they removed it.

Thanks, it's clear now, I haven't seen no warning when installing awesome.

ditto as rgb, never saw a warning. Installed feh and all started working.
