Yet an other problem with ATI cards.

I am trying to configure the ati card of a vaio vgn-ns11Z, I had to disable the KMS as the chipset is too new. But still it does not work.

Here is the output of some useful commands:

[root@restless ~]# lspci | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Device 95c2
[root@restless ~]# glxinfo | grep 'dir\|rer'
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R600 (RV620 95C2) 20090101 TCL
[root@restless ~]# glxgears
drmRadeonCmdBuffer: -22. Kernel failed to parse or rejected command stream. See dmesg for more info.
[root@restless ~]# dmesg |tail
sky2 eth0: enabling interface
sky2 eth0: Link is up at 100 Mbps, full duplex, flow control both
[drm] Setting GART location based on new memory map
[drm] Loading RV620 CP Microcode
[drm] Loading RV620 PFP Microcode
[drm] Resetting GPU
[drm] writeback test succeeded in 1 usecs
NET: Registered protocol family 10
lo: Disabled Privacy Extensions
eth0: no IPv6 routers present
[root@restless ~]#

The program glxgears does not start, the window flashes and the program exit.

Thanks for any insight.

Re: Yet an other problem with ATI cards.

I got the exactly same issue, with both video-ati and video-ati-git:

florian@flobox:~$ lspci | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV710 [Radeon HD 4550]
florian@flobox:~$ glxinfo | grep 'dir\|rer'
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R600 (RV710 9540) 20090101 TCL
florian@flobox:~$ glxgears
drmRadeonCmdBuffer: -22. Kernel failed to parse or rejected command stream. See dmesg for more info.
florian@flobox:~$ dmesg |tail
[drm] Resetting GPU
[drm] Setting GART location based on new memory map
[drm] Loading RV710 PFP Microcode
[drm] Loading RV710 CP Microcode
[drm] Resetting GPU
[drm] writeback test succeeded in 1 usecs

Because of this, I cannot run Blender, which worked well before video-ati was updated to 6.12.99.git20091014-1.

Any news about this?

I think you should change the topic title to something more explicit.
