nVidia tty

I had lost my TTYs (virtual terminals) ages ago, and wrongly accused my two X screens for breaking them.   Anyways..  that wasn't it, the nvidia framebuffer module was blacklisted.  I've got an article here LINK NO LONGER VALID http://archerseven.com/HQ/articles.php?article_id=4 explaining more, if anyone's having issues with nVidia and virtual terminals.

is this related to the problem i have of getting a black screen whenever i kill x when not using a display manager? (it also gives me a black screen if i do alt+f1, or whatever, to get to the console.)
