I set up an IceCast server on an old laptop today and am mostly pleased. The one big issue I've encountered is a 6-7 second delay from when I change/pause/start/whatever a song in mpd to when that change is reflected in the client playing the icecast stream (foobar2000, in this case). If I'm streaming one long playlist (as I often do) this isn't an issue. The problem comes if I'm wanting to change songs or pause. Any tips on reducing this delay? Or any other recommendations for a delay-less (or close) method of doing this?
