Disable 3 button emulation in HAL?

Hi All,
When HAL picks up my mouse (Kensington PilotMouse) it maps the 2 regular buttons, the 2 buttons on the side and the mouse wheel, but maps the mouse wheel click as left and right buttons together. Now this seems to be the old X server "3 button emulation" kicking in, but how do I turn it off?

I need all of my mouse buttons for games (which do run on linux surprisingly - wine has come a long way).

Thanks for your time!
Soggy.

Re: Disable 3 button emulation in HAL?

I think 3 button emulation is the other way round - it maps 2 clicks into 1 middle click. So this seems like a weird problem.

Check your xorg.conf for extraneous settings, as well as the hal config files in /etc/hal/fdi and /usr/share/hal/fdi, but beyond that I'm not sure what to do. Use xev to test buttons if you want.
