A little feedback

After 7 months of using desktop Linux, and 5 months of Arch linux, finally today I have deleted windowzzz partition...and Ubuntu partition. I am windows free smile Don't even remember when I booted into win last time, so asked myself what I am waiting for...

A few words why Arch linux:

1) It is funny but I had more problems with ubuntu. yes, everything is configured there, but something sometimes is still wrong and it is hard to fix.
2) with arch I had a few little problems only, but not critical. Arch linux saves my time a lot. I update everything on my laptop and never had problems after upgrades.
3) newest software! It is hard to have everything new on Ubuntu so easy.
4) New Ubuntu release is out. A lot of ppl reinstalling their OS or upgrading. We don't have to wipe everything on Arch and we up to date still.

So guys. Arch linux rocks! and linux too:)
never will use Windows again, it is a bull$$$t.

I will donate to Arch when it is possible for me.

Re: A little feedback

Yes, I remember I moved away from Suse back in the day because its automagical configuration systems actually ended up getting in the way of what I wanted to do. Now I use Arch because it stays out of my way and lets me keep up to date.

Don't get me wrong, those beginner-orientated desktop distros are really good and I have great memories of Suse, which introduced me to Linux after all. But once you know what you're doing, a system like Arch is as close to perfection as it gets smile

Re: A little feedback

I think Ubuntu and other non-rolling-release distros are a good intermediary step for ex-windows users, as the mentality of "let's reinstall" when a new release comes is still fresh.  As people become accustomed to updating individual packages, and eventually the kernel, etc, the whole "reinstall the OS" thing gets left behind, and Ubuntu [et al] become more of a hassle and we see people moving to Arch, gentoo and others.
There's also the factor of those more noob-friendly distros configuring most things for you, kind of like training wheels big_smile

Dont get me wrong, I used kubuntu for a year or so before i found arch, and i appreciate the ease and comfort it provided in retransitioning from windows to linux.  Glad you joined the community!
