Re: Show off your XFCE desktop!

How did you add the date at the middle of the panel?

The clock is the default clock widget with a custom format of

%a %d %b %R:%S

This widget is surrounded by two separators which are both transparent and expanding...

I've been impressed by the work of the Elementary-OS devs lately but found it too unstable/unconfigurable to my liking... Thus throwing me back to Arch and XFCE once more. The looks and behaviour of Elementary can be somewhat mimicked though... And the above is my current try at doing so...

GTK-theme and XFWM-theme are Greybird with modifications (bold panel font, color tweaks) and the wallpaper can be found on Interfacelift. The dock I'm using is AWN with a slightly modified Smoked theme (comes with AWN by default)... The last tweak major tweak is the Whisker Menu plugin you see as my main menu...

Looks great. How did you create the bold font. I suppose somewhere in the gtkrc of the theme?

Re: Show off your XFCE desktop!

It is indeed an edit of the gtkrc

The theme comes with a 'xfce-panel' specific file in the 'apps' subdirectory. I changed the font of each possible style in this file to 'Sans Bold'. The only thing that remains is restarting XFCE (or reselecting the theme, which works as well)...

Not there yet, still have to tweak it a bit.

Only thing not mentioned in the screenshot info is custom AWN theme.

The panel at the bottom is awn? Looks fantastic! Tell me please, where can I find this theme?

BTW, I think xfce could look fantastic, I wish there would be some people who care a bit about the
default themes of xfce, the default themes are sometimes really old (and old looking) and buggy. :-(
More gtk3-support would be great too.

The theme is custom. All you do is chose any awn theme, even the default is fine and then just play with the colours till you get what you want. Expand panel, and arrange the applets in such a way that you get that effect. It really is not difficult.

If you need more help I'll upload my theme and give you more guidance on setting it up, but you should get it in no time flat, very easy to do.
