default font size

Hi,
does anyone know how I can adjust the default font/size of gtk+ compiled programs like firefox without running gnome or xfce?  The reason I ask is, everytime I try to run some WM like iceWM (or fluxbox or what have you), when I open a gnome terminal or firefox, the font size is really small (like a 9 or 10).  Even my GDM login screen has this issue - small font where I type in my username and password.  I searched all through gconf but I can't find the right setting (I have changed the font settings that I could see but no change)
roll
TIA

Re: default font size

you can try to put this in ~/.gtkrc-2.0

gtk-font-name = "bitstream bold 12"

arch + gentoo + initng + python = enlisy

Re: default font size

try running gnaome-settings-daemon before running a gtk app

if this fixes it, you may want to add

gnome-settings-daemon &

to your .xinitrc or .xsession
