Hello,
I installed gimp and it seems it was corrupted. It installed empty files and I cannot remove them.
When try removing I get this message:
[root@myhost mak]# pacman -R gimp
gimp not found, searching for group...
error: 'gimp': not found in local db
[root@myhost mak]#
And all the dependencies like babl and so on cannot be removed because not found in the database.
When try to reinstall gimp I get this message:
gimp: /usr/share/locale/zh_CN/LC_MESSAGES/gimp20-tips.mo exists in filesystem
gimp: /usr/share/locale/zh_CN/LC_MESSAGES/gimp20.mo exists in filesystem

Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
This is just the end of it, but this message repeats over and over again.
Any idea how to fix this because I need gimp.
Thanks

When pacman installs empty files, that usually means you ran out of disk space.
If that's not your problem, check the error output for any files that don't belong to gimp, and if it looks like they are all things safe to overwrite, use the "-f" option to pacman to make it write over them.

Thanks a lot,
The -f function did the trick and solved the problem.
My partition is 20 gig and I still have 16 gig free. So the lack of space was not a problem. I don't know what caused this, I've neve experienced anything like installing empty files before.
