OSS and 5.1

Heeyy!

Recently i had to reinstall the whole system, and as i had to make a fresh install, i thought its time to switch to OSS, since ALSA doesnt realy support my sound card (ca0106 > I tryed a lot of configs, read a lot of forums, everyone has problems with this soundcard getting downmix and 5.1upmix at same time) anyway...

So, im new to oss, please help me out to set it to 5.1

OSS detects my sound card nicely, osstest works very nice in 5.1, all channels working, but only with osstest can i get separate sound from all speakers. Any other program plays only stereo on Front. I tried to attach the 5.1 output node to vmix, but gave me an error (dunno, im realy noob with oss)

Re: OSS and 5.1

Try running ossxmix and setting vmix to multichannel. No other ideas here.

Re: OSS and 5.1

Try http://www.opensound.com/wiki/index.php … und_output

I changed from dsp to dsp_multich

*  The typical method is to relink /dev/dsp to the desired /dev/oss/.../ device. e.g.

        sudo ln -sf /dev/oss/oss_sbxfi0/pcm0 /dev/dsp
