Crossover Linux 8.x in Arch?

Hi,

Have anyone successfully installed and run Crossover Linux 8.x in Arch and been able to print? I was able to install it, but got an error message from the installer telling me that I miss 32 bit libcups.so.2 library and won't be able to print. I was able to run Word, but I had to do an "add to desktop", it wouldn't run from the start menu. As the warning said I was not able to print. I am running 64bit Arch, but I have all the 32 libs installed including libcups.so.2. Anyone have any idea how I can get the Crosssover Linux installer to see the lib so I can get printing working

Printing from Word 97 works for me, using Crossover 8.0.0 on x86_64.  Do you have /opt/lib32/usr/lib in /etc/ld.so.conf?

Thanks. yes I have that line in /etc/ld.so.conf. Still the installer does not see the library which I have checked is actually there. Printing does not work just as the installer tells me it won't.
I'm stumped at this point. I wonder if there's a way to find out where the installer is looking for libs?

Re: Crossover Linux 8.x in Arch?

This is where I bail out because, as far as I know, the crossover installer doesn't check for installed libraries (I've had problems with missing libraries in the past and didn't get any warning from the installer) and wine just needs a working cups installation (see http://wiki.winehq.org/Printing).  All I can suggest is to post a ticket with Crossover.

PS. If you installed 8.0.0 over the top of an earlier version, try uninstalling and reinstalling.  I had problems with 8.0.0 until I did that.

It was a clean install. In fact, several installs with the same outcome.

You can see the error message here:

To clarify, you do have lib32-libcups installed, right? As a temporary workaround I suggest outputting to PDF (or similar) and printing from a PDF viewer.

Re: Crossover Linux 8.x in Arch?

And is this relevant: http://www.codeweavers.com/support/tick … ect=system ?

The gist is:

Our top developer in this area has looked into this quite a bit.  He has finally
stated that if kprint is not present with kde4 then printing will not be
possible through CrossOver.

The support person we have in-house who is running Fedora & kde4 has worked
around this by also loading Gnome and booting into Gnome to set up printing.
Perhaps this is an alternative for you as well?

Yes I do have lib32-libcups installed. I have even tried to reinstall it.
