urxvt font rendering

i am trying to make my urxvt look good with dejavu mono fonts and i am having a real hard time...
here is a comparison between urxvt and konsole with the same font applied:

any clue how i can make it better?

One thing that you can do to get the fonts the same size is to call them like:

URxvt*font:                 xft:DejaVu Sans Mono-10

This will use the X server sizes and not the pixel size. This may make a difference in how the bold fonts are rendered.

These are my urxvt font settings:

URxvt*italicFont: xft:DejaVu Sans Mono:style=italic:antialias=true:pixelsize=11
URxvt*boldItalicFont: xft:DejaVu Sans Mono:style=bolditalic:antialias=true:pixelsize=11

Urxvt properly displays those fonts like your konsole example.
