A general question about an addition to the 2.6.32 kernel

This is something I found a link to from a general news article about features being added in the next kernel, and I was wondering if anyone who knows more about this stuff than me could clarify something for me.  This patch adds support for the audio hardware of the Acer Aspire 7730G laptop, which is great....but mine's the 7730 ("dmidecode | grep Product" = "Product Name: Aspire 7730"), which as far as I can make out is identical for all purposes other than marketing (the service manual refers to the '7730/7730G' model throughout, without differentiating between them).  Does this mean that the upcoming kernel won't give me this functionality, for the lack of a single letter?

Even if it won't work out of box, you can force the model snd_hda_intel uses, so you should be in the clear.
