Best way to change from i686 to x86_64

Hi,

I'm thinking about this. I've read some posts, but maybe I don't know how to make the best search.

I know I have to reinstall but, Is there any way to "replicate" what I have now the easy or automated way?

You should backup your $HOME and probably /etc. Also, save a copy of the installed packages: pacman -Qqe > pkglist (will save only the names of the packages you explicitally installed, without their version numbers). Then install Arch i686, do pacman -Sy `cat pkglist`and restore your backups.

You must be careful about /etc, as some files should be different. For example, pacman mirrorlist will need x86_64 instead of i686 in each mirror's URL. I don't know of any more files that need changing, but there may exist some...
