[solved] weird terminal behavior

honestly, I couldnot do a good google search on this, because I have no idea how to name the behavior.

I am running an (up to date) fluxbox and using aterm as my terminal emulator. when I open a text document in aterm via nano and scroll, the text I see does not update itself. so, for instance, say I opened .fluxbox/startup and scrolled down to a place where I set the mouse speed. This is a section in the middle of the file. But the terminal shows me the line where the mouse is set, and the very last line of the file. when I try to scroll up and down, the whole sequence of lines gets confused (the first line becomes the middle line, the last line goes up, etc). but if I save the file like that, I see that nothing changed...

Any idea how to resolve this, or even name it?

As it turns out, for some weird reason, +sb was screwing things up...

Re: [solved] weird terminal behavior

Is it only the combination of nano+aterm that causes this behavior?  Do e.g. vi+aterm or nano+xterm work?  Does nano work in virtual console?

Re: [solved] weird terminal behavior

it seems like it's an aterm-related issue (didn't think about that). vi+aterm and nano+aterm are problematic, but nano+xterm is not. this is how I start aterm, in case that's relevant:

aterm -tr +sb -fg white -sh 20
