Single keypress registerd as multiple events with LIRC

It's been a while since I reformatted my media computer - about two years, so I figured it was time. When I went back to set up lirc again, the system behaved differently than usual.

In particular, I was getting multiple keypress events on each press of the remote control. It's like button bounce, but it seems pretty unlikely for a carbon rubber contactor. Is there a way to set up a no-repeat timer of some sort? .lircrc files have that built in, but they don't work with distinct events. Notice the multiple events with a "00" counter. The first few lines are where I was holding down the left button to show off proper repeat behavior.

0000000000000029 00 right /etc/lircd.conf

Any advice would be very much appreciated!
