Hi,
I was wondering if I could ask for help in something: i'm a gnome user, but one thing I really like agout KDE is the kde Konsole, the console emulator. I would like to use it with gnome but can't because of all the KDE dependencies. Is it possible to build Konsole independent of KDE? I'm use QT will have to stay but that's ok, another program I use uses it, but can I get rid of the KDE dependencies? I tried modifying the KDEbase PKGBUILD but with no luck. I was wondering if more experianed people could help?

Are you low on disk space or why cant you just install kdebase-konsole?
To answer your question: no, that's impossible.

To not answer your question, lxterminal is pretty light and a good substitute for Konsole. I'm sure people will have other suggestions.
I looked it the same thing a while back for konsole and konqueror from kde3 and couldn't find a way to do it without installing kdebase.

Anyone know how one might go about statically compiling Konsole then?
It'd still come with a lot of bloat, but it'd be interesting to try...
Greenstuff, what do you like about Konsole?
The best route would probably be to find a suitable replacement. Urxvt, for one, is my personal favorite.

That's the problem.. I need Bidi (bidirectional support) to write hebrew (which is from left to right). Only subsitute is mlterm which I find not esteticlly pleasing.

Well you could always configure mlterm?
Quoted from arch wiki: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mlterm
The easiest way to configure mlterm is using the GUI configurator, to invoke which push control key and mouse button 3. For additional details, consult the mlterm man page.
