I have a Samsung 40" HDTV with 1920x1080 resolution and I'm trying to make a MythTV box that connects to it with an HDMI cable. I also have an Intel x4500 video card so I'm running the xf86-video-intel driver and no xorg.conf at the moment. For some reason, the TV is detected as a 7" screen which makes everything on it HUGE. I suppose I could make an xorg.conf to force the correct resolution but it seems to me a better solution is to figure out how to make the screen be autodetected correctly. I'm guessing this is done by looking up specs in a file somewhere? Maybe I could even submit a patch (never done that before) if I could figure this out.
Could anyone point me in the right direction to learn about how monitor autodetection works?
