"Clock" has quit unexpectedly

I forgot to shuttle down my laptop, so it worked for the whole night. In the morning I still can work on it, but it's kind of slow, so I restarted it. Then it said "'Clock' has to quit unexpectedly", my clock disappeared from panel, and it continued asking me to reload or not. No click on the desk works and neither the keyboard. It's not the first time I met this problem, and what I only can do is to creat a new user, but it's really not convenient. Who can help me? Anyone who had this kind of problem before?
