LAMP help

Hi there! I have already setup LAMP using the guide from the wiki. I currently have my files on ~/public_html/ although I'd like them to be in /srv/http/. Some of my web apps are the ones doing the creation of files, etc. so what I did is chown'ed /srv/http/ with the user and group 'http'. Problem now is I can't make modifications on the files since I don't own the files. Any things I should consider? Thanks!

Give the group rwx permission on the tree? (and add your user to the group)
