This has been happening for at least a few weeks now, and I can't figure it out. Whenever I try to use any version of recordmydesktop (plain old cgi, gtk, or qt) the resulting video is incredibly messed up. Sometimes, there video is less than a second long (after being recorded for at least 10 seconds). Other times, it freezes on a single frame, changing about one or two minutes to another frame. Any ideas? I think the problem may lay within mplayer (or whatever the heck it uses to convert the video to the resulting .ogv)
Thanks guys.

recordmydesktop --fps 25 -width 1024 -height 768 --v_quality 63 --v_bitrate 2000000 -o video.ogvThe important part is the --v_bitrate 2000000

downgrade libtheora to 1.0-1.1. The new theora is completely different and recordmydesktop needs to be rewritten to be compatible.

simply not true... see my previous post - works perfectly with new theora

When i used the option it worked. But the jumping to the middle of the video and sticking there behavior persists with old theora files. And it happens with all applications. (vlc, chromium, firefox). So it seems to me the new libtheora is not that backward compatible.
