acpi-eepc-generic 1.0.0.1 with 701SD

Firstly, thanks to the developers of the scripts - I have an EEEPC 701SD - 8GBSSD with Realtek 8187se wireless using Archlinux 2.26.31 kernel (latest core) with LXDE / openbox and WiCD.
I copied the 701 model script to 701SD and have changed the wireless to "rtl1887se" . I have also tried using r8180 in place of rtl8187se as r8180  is the driver shown by DMESG. - whichever used does not seem to make any difference

All the function keys work with following couple of exceptions:

Fn+F2 will turn on wireless OK but causes the eeepc to freeze when used to toggle off
Fn+F5 toggles local and external OK in the cycle Clone, VGA, Both,,but the mouse cursor is missing from the VGA only screen. The mouse cursor is available on the VGA only screen if I continue to toggle a second cycle.
Fn+F7 will MUTE but the toggle fails to UNMUTE

Apart from these issues which may not be related to the scripts themselves, is there a way to have the scripts work with other users - when I logoff and logon as a new user, the function keys do not work for the new user?

Any guidance on correcting appreciated

Thanks
laurie

Re: acpi-eepc-generic 1.0.0.1 with 701SD

I've just recently acquired an identical Eee 701SD to keep my earlier Eee 701 4G company. My setup is very similar to yours and I also find that the acpi-eeepc-generic and eee-control packages freeze the Eee immediately when I try and toggle wireless off. I'm running the latest versions of everything, including kernel 2.26.32. Toggling wireless on the older Eee still works fine though.

Did some rummaging of the websites associated with these utilities, but no solutions apparent.
Oh well, I can live with this as I only used the wireless toggle occasionally to save battery power; otherwise I'm not really bothered by the Fn keys. Will just disconnect wireless via Wicd when needed and hope that helps a bit.

Re: acpi-eepc-generic 1.0.0.1 with 701SD

The latest upgrades, including to kernel 32, has fixed the mute and mouse cursor Fn key probs on my 701SD, just leaving the wireless toggle offo fix smile - the hang is a bit different now as it now goes to a black screen with the cursor visible but frozen.  Should add here that toggling the wireless on from an initial off state works well.

The wireless toggle worked fine on the stock xandros - maybe something to check there.

I have tried to verify the Fn+F2 key codes as there is a difference with the 900 from other models, but this also causes to hang...may have to remove the script first?? - the alternate 900 setup did not work either.

Will look a bit more then post a bug report smile

Re: acpi-eepc-generic 1.0.0.1 with 701SD

I've recently bought an Asus eee 701SD and installed Arch Linux. It runs great except for three main problems:
1. When I change the color depth to 16 bit and run wine, or close and reopen the laptop lid, the screen chucks a spaz when I move windows around. I posted a thread here:http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=98218 (includes a youtube video.
2. I'm also having the fn+f2 wireless problem. I get the exact same kernel panic message as this person here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/494287
3. When I plug in headphones, the speakers don't disable. I'm essentially having the same problem as the people on this thread:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=768742

Other than these problems, it works great big_smile
