I finally got my new htpc built, it's a m3n78-em mobo with an integrated nvidia geforce 8300 chip. I'm using vdpau and an hdmi cable from the chipset directly to my tv.
I've got it all enabled and "working" but I'm noticing a bit of pixelation while playing tv shows and movies from my hard drive. I've searched around here and the xbmc forums as well but am still coming up short with a good answer.
So, anyone out there have a similar setup who is willing to share:
xorg.conf settings
xbmc video settings (specifically info about interlacing, etc. )
nvidia-settings settings
or anything else about getting the best video quality from this thing?
Thanks!

I've never bumped a post, but really? No one around here is running xbmc and vdpau and is willing to share their settings?

i'm running mythtv with vdpau and have some pixelation too. i always assumed it was bad reception but i haven't checked that yet (i have a signal amplifier lying around somewhere). But IIRC xbmc doesn't do tv does it?

I'm not sure what you mean by "doesn't do tv" but xbmc supports a multitude of resolutions and a lot of users use it with their tvs.

i mean it doesnt record tv from a capture card, which i think is where my pixelation is coming from. so what i really meant is are your tv shows and movies recorded off the air?

ah, you're correct. XBMC doesn't currently do livetv (at least not directly). All of my stuff is stored media on a hard drive.
