notebook freezes randomly followed by mountpoint in the future error

hi
I am having a strange problem here with my notebook when connected to WLAN. It never happens when using the dockingstation.
The computer just freezes with a black screen, not even the magic-sys-rq is working. In the beginning I thought it was related to powersaving but that is switched of now.
There is also no log entry about it and the computer is not to hot. Could it be related to the iwlagn wlan driver? Does anyone have a solution, maybe an extra option for the kernel or module?

The second problem happens when I reboot at the filsystem check. It doesn't check and I can see that the clock has a difference of exactly one hour. But, the system and hwclock are both on localtime. How is that even possible then? ntpd daemon is also running.
rc.conf contains:
HARDWARECLOCK="localtime"

/var/log # date
Sun Dec 13 18:07:22 CET 2009

/var/log # hwclock
Sun 13 Dec 2009 18:07:34 CET  -0.060849 seconds

Re: notebook freezes randomly followed by mountpoint in the future error

You should probably give a little bit more details about your hardware and what graphics drivers you use.

Re: notebook freezes randomly followed by mountpoint in the future error

I always seem to be the only one who has this kind of problems. smile Old laptop, old driver: not working either. Both intel products.
It is a bit sad, that I don't have an error-log.

Re: notebook freezes randomly followed by mountpoint in the future error

Hi! Just bought Lenovo G550 laptop with the same wireless card. I have a problem similar to yours: after some time from connection to wireless network (wicd) system freezes: no mouse, no keyboard, just nothing BUT music is still playing, movie is still playing etc. Did you solve your issue?

Re: notebook freezes randomly followed by mountpoint in the future error

Oh almost forgot about this thread. smile
I haven't solved it actively but I am almost certain that it happens only with a 64bit kernel. On my notebook from work I have a 64bit kernel with 32bit userland which is otherwise working perfectly and allows me to make use of the full 4GB RAM. Booting the backup 32bit kernel never had that issue. What I'm trying to say is, it might be related to 64bit kernel and my system.
But I have to admit that I have a new problem now. I can connect with networkmanager but DNS is not working. It all started when suspend-to-disk failed once. Seems I should avoid using Intel products. smile

Can you reboot using the Magic-Sys-RQ? It might be only X which freezes and doesn't react on keystrokes.
