How to install a DE or WM after install?

I installed Arch, but didnt pick any other packages, other than the default ones, so im stuck with just a command line now when i boot up the system.

What can i do to install a desktop environment like LXDE or XFCE?

Thanks so much!

Arch Wiki has this information, you should have looked there first. Read Begginer's guide. Install xorg and video driver, and after that install lxde/xfce.

Re: How to install a DE or WM after install?

My advice would be to start over with the begginers guide at hand, I had no idea of how to install Arch, and by following the guide step by step I now have a fully working Desktop Environment (with KDEmod, specific to arch, very cool).

If you follow this guide to the letter, you should be ok.

Re: How to install a DE or WM after install?

join the irc channel then

its the #archlinux on freenode

you can use weechat irc client for example (its in the repo)

for xfce you got to do
pacman -S xfce4 xfce4-goodies
you may want to install the 'menumaker' package too
pacman -Ss xfce would give you THE list.

you can see all informations here

See if this helps. A very  simple, n0bified guide I wrote by request. I always ask peple to refer to beginner's guide, as i have also mentioned at the starting of my guide.
