Anybody get netflix play-on-demand working?

I tried ies4linux under wine, but the netflix site claims my OS doesn't support streaming. Am I simply missing a package?

Other than trying ies4linux, I'm using opera, but could go firefox. I use smplayer.

Any ideas?

I haven't heard of anyone getting it to work. I'm guessing the user agent variable is reporting Linux or an older version of Windows. Or your version of IE is too old. Also, does Silverlight even install with Wine?

Best chance at streaming Netflix is vbox and Windows XP or higher... Very annoying

The DRM software Netflix uses is what holds them back from supporting Linux. They use Microsoft's flavor, rather than Adobe's.

Ok, thanks for the replies. Netflix doesn't complain about my browser, or versions, just that streaming isn't supported in my OS (wine is running internet explorer 6).
I was hoping it was just a wine thing, like I need winetricks or something.

Didn't try silverlight, don't really want to. But, I could try swapping wine versions around, maybe get lucky.

I'll leave this one open awhile longer, see what happens.

Followup:
Couldn't get .NET 2.0 to install under wine. Upgraded to the latest wine and still no-go. Used to install fine.
Won't even be able to try silverlight without it. Going to try ies4linux here on my main system.

Followup:
Ies4linux browses fine, but I just discovered from their website that the media player doesn't work.
Will look more into ths later, for now I'm going to try firefox.

It's my understanding that Linux and Netflix will eventually work together through moonlight, but apparently it's not working yet:

I'd like to have the Linux/Netflix option as well if they ever get it going.

Its been a while, and there are some new things out there so I am wondering if anyone has had any more success with this. I've got the latest moonlight, and I don't get an error or anything, just whenever I try and play a movie, it redirects me to the homepage. Any ideas?

I didn't think this would ever happen, since Moonlight does not support DRM. Anyway, Chromium should have a Netflix plug-in soon that is supposed to work in Linux (see link below).

I wonder if anyone has tried hacking the netflix android app to run on Linux, or maybe from within the Android SDK or an emulator?

I saw this the other day & am waiting for it to lead somewhere. It certainly would be nice. I got a DVD player capable of streaming Netflix but I'd rather go thru my MythTV interface since it's faster / more responsive.

Last I heard development had stopped on Moonlight. I think that your best bet is running through VM. I did that for awhile and it played relatively well.
