gdm- no login screen [SOLVED]

Tried to login  today but, when all the boot messages had passed and I reached the login screen all I got was the gdm shutdown screen asking if I wanted to suspend restart or shutdown. Tried booting with the failsafe option but no difference. Also pressing any of the buttons had no effect the screen was frozen and I had to hit the power switch to get out. I remember there was an update to gdm yesterday so I'm suspicious that this might have been the cause. I have a puppylinux live cd so should be able to get to the file system to make changes. Any ideas help would be appreciated.

Re: gdm- no login screen [SOLVED]

Thank you for that. I installed the update to console-kit and everything now working fine. Notice from the thread you had this problem back in March.
Thanks again
