This is FUD,
nouveau is not included by default in 2.6.32, it is only in STAGING.
And probably in all distrib providing nouveau, you have to choose it / install it. Except in fedora maybe, which might have shipped nouveau by default for a while. I don't know how/if they offer to install nvidia.
Anyway in Arch, you have to install nouveau-drm manually.
That said, nvidia and nouveau indeed conflict with each other, and that goes both ways.
