Noatun and Kaboodle 'SIGSEGV' on exit (Arch(nova)/KDE 3.1.3)
XMMS works fine, but I'd really like to use noatun/kaboodle, as well.

i'm wondering too ... have the same results
-> use mplayer or xine or kaffeine (just posted in incoming)

my suggestion would be to rebuild the package those applications are in, and see if you still have those errors.
not sure if you've done this yet, but here's an example (not at my machine so directories, etc might be slightly off):
> cd /usr/abs/kde/kdemultimedia
> makepkg
once that has finished
>pacman -U kdemultimedia-whatever.pkg.tar.gz
then try the apps again and see if they are still broken.
Hapy.

I'm having the same problem with Kaboodle and Noatun. However, they were working fine in KDE 3.1.2-1, which was included on the arch 0.5 iso. I didn't start having problems until I upgraded to 3.1.3-1. I rebuilt the kdemultimedia package, but the problem persists.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
Offline
are these standalone applications or part of the kde multimedia package?
i would go to the kde home page and see if there is any info their either in change logs or archived mail list stuff that mentions these issues.
also before you compile see if their are any compile time options that you may have to add to fix your issues.
for me the error messages above don't tell me much but then again i am not all-knowing

ok, i tried to recompile them:

ups ... kdemultimedia wants "qt" to be <3.2.0, but we have 3.2.1 ... i wonder why this dependency is not set in PKGBUILD of kdemultimedia (maybe the builder had a qt <3.2.0 and didnt look at the ./configure when (s)he built it --- well, it is not easy, because it is really fast :-) )

hummm that is quite strange. perhaps that is the problem, if the ./configure is correct (seems like a strange thing to put in there if it's not true?) if there actually is some sort of change between 3.2.0 and 3.2.1 then that could be why it is crashing.
this is all just conjecture as I'm not anywhere near my comp ATM... if you feel like playing with the configure script, change the requirements in there, or try installing qt 3.2.0 and see if those apps still crash...
Hapy.

i opened a bug at bugs.kde.org

Thanx, didn't know if it was Arch internal or KDE specific.

Just loaded the Slackware-Live CD with KDE 3.1.3 and NOATUN works fine. Wonder if there is something with the devfs system and audio/arts that is amiss!?!?

If you mean from the Slack-Live CD, it is:
/usr/lib/qt-3.1.2/lib/...
Any more ideas?

OK -- some exciting info:
I've discovered that if you remove the 'Young Hickory' plug-in it no longer crashes. Found this in the kde bug files.
bug #57174 at bugs.kde.org
Looks like it has been fixed in cvs and is under testing before back-port. Anyone willing to pop a cvs build into incoming(i've not learned how to makepkg, yet)?
