OpenVZ MAKEDEV?

Ok, so OpenVZ uses this really old version of Arch, but all I really need is some MAKEDEV equivalent that can be run to fix this issue:

"enter into CT 30054 failed
Unable to open pty: No such file or directory
Connection to 216.245.192.154 closed."

Basically my server is unusable. I can't access files on it whatsoever.
