Extremely low volume with for audio input devices
The topic says it all. I've got mic boost and capture all the way up to 100 but I can only ever hear anything if I shuot into the mic, and when I play it back it's very faint. This happens with two different USB microphones (one in my camera and another standalone). Any advice?

Did you try to adjust is with alsamixer?

I'm not sure this will help, but my boss's laptop has the same issue. In fact, he thought the sound was completely dead until I plugged it into speakers that had their volume maxed out, after which, you could barely hear system sounds.
The thing is, this was on XP so it may not be applicable, but maybe it's a hardware issue?
